Additional What to Expect the First Year Information

From the authors of the 9.6-million-copy bestselling What to Expect When You're Expecting, here is What to Expect the First Year (over 5.6 million copies in print), the most comprehensive guide available on the next phase of parenting-newborn care.

Written with the same reassuring, lively authority as What to Expect When You're Expecting, the book is organized for ease of reference, leading nervous parents from month to month, check-up to check-up, even feeding to feeding. The chapters on each month address basic expectations of behavior and growth, as well as special concerns and decisions-from finding the perfect pediatrician to getting baby on a sleep-through-the-night schedule to choosing toys, shoes, and diapers. Equally important are the emotional issues a new baby raises for every member of the family-these are covered thoughtfully and thoroughly.

Additional chapters cover special subjects such as first aid, traveling with a baby, premature babies, adopted babies, and much more. Winner of the 1994 Parenting "Hall of Fame" Award from Child magazine's Child's Best Parenting Book Award. Selection of the Book-of-the-Month Club and Better Homes & Gardens Family Book Service.

What Customers Say About What to Expect the First Year:

This book is OK. I don't particularly care for how it's organized (by age, not by topic), and found that "BABY 411" is my real go-to book once my baby was born

I use this book all the time for questions I have. It calms me down when I'm freaking out about something and about to take my kids to the doctor. It's a must have.

Seller stated that it was the second edition and sent us the first and older edition and told us in a note that it was the same information as the second edition. If I would have known this I would have not purchased it and would have purchased what I wanted, which was the newest edition, the second edition.

Sears book pretty much on all the issues. I found my son was always doing things a few months in advance according to it. That seems weird. I was gifted this book and The Baby Book by Dr. and I agree with the Dr. and still it was just so-so. I tended to read ahead a bit cause of that.

When I got to the section in 11 months that pretty much says your baby should be off the breast and there is no medical benefits to it beyond 12 months. It says that after 12 months human breastmilk is pretty my empty and that at that point they NEED cow milk. I was so-so on this book from the beginning. but common sense (and science) tells us that human milk is nutritionally better for a human baby than cow milk. especially for the first 2 years. Sears. If you are more progressive and like to make your parenting decisions on the latest scientific research and child development information. If you are going to parent the way they recommended in 80s then get this book.

so the section on his age was usually useful a few months ago. It's much more informative and accurate. cause last I checked I had a human baby and not a baby cow, lol. I'm not saying it's wrong to give cow milk at 12 months instead. I would skip this one and get that. skip it.

I was born to handle babies, until my own came along. This book had all the advice for situations I never thought I'd have to deal with. Tons of help, with a comprehensive index for quick reference on every topic.
